International Falls and beautiful Rainy Lake is 30 miles to the north on U.S. Highway 53 as is Fort Francis, Ontario, Canada.

Snowmobiling is a popular winter pastime with access to many miles of trails in both Minnesota and Ontario. Cross-country skiers and snowshoe enthusiasts may enjoy the solitude of the back country and wilderness areas.
